The Center for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) recently hosted a two-day workshop in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop brought together organisations and researchers from 18 Asian economies to discuss the upcoming 2026 Doing Good Index (DGI) and the evolving landscape of the social sector. Representing IPS, Research Fellow Dr Asanka Wijesinghe and Research Assistant Rashmi Anupama attended the workshop.
Discussions covered key insights from previous iterations, survey methodology, timelines, and the thematic focus of DGI 2026, which centres on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ahead of the 2030 deadline. The fifth iteration of DGI survey intends to identify cross-sector collaboration in achieving SDGs and the perceived utility of SDGs within the social sector.
Additional discussions explored the rise of wealth and philanthropy in Asia, trust dynamics across the region, and the untapped potential of private resources to drive positive change. DGI continues to play a crucial role in unlocking this potential and shaping policies to enhance philanthropic impact.
As a longstanding local partner of CAPS, IPS remains committed to contributing to DGI 2026, working alongside leading social sector researchers across Asia and the social sector stakeholders in Sri Lanka.
