Chandula Idirisinghe is a Research Officer working on Agriculture and Agribusiness Development Policy research at the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS). His research interests include agriculture, market access, food security, environment, and natural resources.
He holds a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Technology and Management, specialising in Applied Economics and Business Management from the University of Peradeniya, and a Master of Agricultural Economics from the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture at the University of Peradeniya.
Chandula has contributed as a junior researcher to studies in partnership with several international organisations, including the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
He has also worked with local stakeholders, including the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure and the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development. Chandula has collaborated closely with industry partners such as the Lanka Fruit and Vegetable Producers, Processors, and Exporters Association (LFVPPEA) and the Ceylon Chamber of Coconut Industries (CCCI).
