The living wage concept has gained considerable attention in recent years, and the ILO is promoting this concept among its constituents. In Sri Lanka, recent discussions among stakeholders have also referred to the “living wage” when establishing various positions. In this context, it is important for employers to have a clear understanding of the living wage concept and to ascertain how it can be conceptualised, taking into consideration the country’s context, particularly by giving due consideration to the employers’ perspective on this concept.
