Bilesha Weeraratne Discusses the Role of Remittances in Reviving Sri Lanka’s Economy

“Sri Lanka will not have enough remittances for 2020 and that is a fact.”

Speaking on Face the Nation programme, broadcast over TV1 on 06 April 2020, IPS Research Fellow and Head of Migration and Urbanisation research, Bilesha Weeraratne, discussed the role of remittances in reviving Sri Lanka’s economy, post COVID-19 pandemic. She also highlighted that unlike other disasters, this crisis has a global impact and therefore Sri Lanka’s revival is tied closely with how the global economy is faring.
