Workshop on ‘Trade Analysis and Economic Integration in Pakistan-India Relations: The Regional Dimension’

IPS and InterAnalysis Ltd. are jointly organizing a five day workshop on ‘Trade Analysis and Economic Integration in Pakistan-India Relations: The Regional Dimension’ from 11th to 15th of November, 2014.

The workshop will discuss regional trade issues within SAARC drawing on work completed by participants who have attended previous workshops in Delhi, Islamabad, and Kathmandu. The key objective of the workshop is to introduce the Tradesift software, developed by the InterAnalysis Ltd. in Sussex University, and introduce the use of it in trade policy analysis in the region.

After welcoming the participants, Dr. Saman Kelegama, Executive Director of IPS, together with Dr. Peter Holmes, delivered their introductory remarks during the opening session, Dr. Tayaba Batool, Senior Research & Evaluation Specialist from the Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad, along with Ms. Sejuti Jha, Freelance Researcher from India, made a presentation based on a previous study they have conducted.

Other resource persons from the University of Sussex include Prof. Jim Rollo, Ms. Laura Jones and Mr. Maximiliano Mendez Parra. Eleven participants from Pakistan and nine participants from India are taking part in the workshop, representing the Ministry of Commerce and other research institutes of their respective countries.
