Webinar – Doing Good Index 2022
30 November 2022
The Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS), in partnership with the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) hosted a virtual panel discussion on ‘Assessing the Health and Well-being of Sri Lanka’s Social Sector’ to disseminate findings of the ‘Doing Good Index 2022’ Report. The DGI examines how Asian economies are catalysing philanthropic giving and the regulatory and institutional infrastructure that enables or impedes private resources directed toward doing good.
The webinar provided an opportunity to discuss the underlying structural conditions preventing social sectors from thriving and opportunities for governments, companies, philanthropists, and social delivery organisations (SDOs) to work together to address social and environmental challenges. The introductory remarks were made by Dr Ruth Shapiro, Co-Founder and Chief Executive of CAPS. This was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr Asanka Wijesinghe, Research Fellow, IPS. The panel featured Mr Sanjeewa Wimalagunerathna, Director General, National Secretariat for Non-governmental Organizations, Mr Kithmina Hewage, Senior Advisor, CAPS and Dr Nadee Dissanayake, Founder/Secretary of Children’s Upliftment Programme Sri Lanka.
