Despite the fact that trade between India and Sri Lanka has increased, particularly following the implementation of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries in 2000, the potential for growth and diversification of trade has not been fulfilled. The ending of the war and the revival of the North and East in Sri Lanka is expected to boost the economy in the next few years with consumption expected to increase and the government encouraging foreign investors to make investments in the country. There is thus an unprecedented opportunity for the Indian business community to engage in the Sri Lankan economy. In this background, this study investigates trade opportunities in Sri Lanka for Indian traders and provides relevant information on trade opportunities in Sri Lanka exclusively for the Indian business community.
