Towards a Sri Lankan Model of Development: A Collection of Writings (1975-2015) by Godfrey Gunatilleke was launched at the BMICH on 24 May 2017, amidst a large gathering. The book was reviewed by a panel that consisted IPS Executive Director, Dr. Saman Kelegama, The Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, and former IPS Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Nimal Sanderatne. The session was chaired by Dr. Lloyd Fernando of the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM).
The author, Dr. Godfrey Gunatilleke, served the IPS Board for 16 years (1990-2006) and was the founder of the Marga Institute, where he served for 35 years. Part 4 of the book, for the first time, looks at Development as a Right in Sri Lanka, while the last part (5), articulates a Vision for Sri Lanka for 2025 and 2035. The book received positive reviews at the event.
