The study aims at understanding the potential links between the Belt and Road initiative (BRI) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). BRI, which aims to enhance interconnectivity between regions/countries through its five key cooperation priorities- policy coordination, facilities connectivity, trade, financial integration and people-to-people connectivity, can lead to important socio-economic impacts in partner countries. However, it can also have various adverse implications. In this context, this research attempts to identify projects and activities in Sri Lanka that can be related to the BRI and explore their potential links/impact on the achievement of SDGs. The study is funded by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).
