Seminars on Regional Integration in South Asia – New Delhi, India

IPS Executive Director Dr. Saman Kelegama was a panelist at the Regional Seminar on “Unlocking the Potential of Regional Integration in South Asia: Priorities for the Islamabad Summit”. The event was organized by the UNESCAP, South and South West Asia (SSWA), sub regional office (SRO), SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The Session was chaired by Ambassador Tariq Karim, Distinguished Fellow, Vivekananda International Foundation. The other panelists included Posh Raj Pandey (SAWTEE), Sachin Chaturvedi (RIS) and Abid Suleri (SDPI). The event took place at the Le Meridien Hotel, Delhi, India, on 16th September 2015.

Dr. Kelegama was also a resource person for the Regional Workshop on “WTO and Regional Trade Agreements in South Asia: Negotiations and Implementation Issues”, where a presentation was made on “The New Global Trading Environment and Value Chains: Positioning South Asia”. Government officials from many SAARC countries participated in the Workshop. Following the Workshop, Dr. Kelegama participated in the Expert Group Meeting held during 17-18 September for the preparation of the regional report by the UNESCAP-SSWA SRO.
