Seminar on ‘The Search of MH370 using Oceanographic Models’

A seminar on “The Search of MH370 using Oceanographic Models” was conducted by Prof. Charitha Pattiaratchi, Professor of Coastal Oceanography, University of Western Australia, Perth; and Leader, Australian National Facility for Ocean Gliders (ANFOG), School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering & The University of Western Australia (UWA) Oceans Institute. It was organized by the Centre for Ocean Studies and Environment for the Indian Ocean Rim Region together with the IPS.

Speaking at the seminar Prof. Pattiaratchi explained how the oceanographic models were used in identifying possible areas for detectingof debris of MH370.

IPS Executive Director, Dr. Saman Kelegama, Head of the Environment Economic Policy Unit, Dr. Athula Senaratne, IPS Research Staff as well as experts from the field participated in an interactive discussion on the subject and other applications of oceanographic models.
