Science, Technology and Innovation for Development

IPS Research Economist, Kanchana Wickramasinghe, participated in the 18th Global Development Conference of the Global Development Network (GDN), on ‘Science, Technology and Innovation for Development,’ held in New Delhi, India on 22 – 23 March 2018.

Ms. Wickramasinghe presented her GDN funded study, Climate Insurance for Dry Zone Farmers in Sri Lanka at the Awards Exhibition, which showcased posters highlighting the work of previous awards laureates. She was the recipient of the First Prize for the Japanese Award for Outstanding Research on Development (ORD) in the Global Development Awards and Medals Competition of GDN in 2014.

She also participated in the pre-conference workshop which aimed at building on the awards competition and create a ‘Network of Excellence’ on research for development.  Ms. Wickramasinghe also took part in the communications training, which was organized for the finalists of the competition this year.
