With a long history of labour migration and with contract migration  being a feature of out-migration in the country, reintegration of return migrants is a national concern for Sri Lanka. In this context, using a sample of 1981 respondents the study analyses the economic and social reintegration experience of returnee migrants in Sri Lanka. Variations in the reintegration experience between the skilled and unskilled returnees is also assessed. It also identifies the characteristics of returnee migrants who are economically better-off and have successfully reintegrated socially. The study also examines effectiveness of existing programmes and institutions in assisting returnee migrants upon return.
