Report Launch – ‘Repositioning Social Security Systems for Private Sector Employment in Sri Lanka’

A report on ‘Repositioning Social Security Systems for Private Sector Employment in Sri Lanka’ commissioned by The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) in collaboration with ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACTEMP) was launched virtually. The study was conducted by Dr Nisha Arunatilake, Ashani Abayasekara and Chathurga Karunanayake. The need for better social security (SS) was exemplified by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. After taking into account international best practices, perception of employers, employees and government officials, the report recommends means of repositioning SS in Sri Lanka to improve the functioning of the labour market.
