
Regional Symposium on ‘Universalization of Social Security in South Asia’
Dr Ganga Tilakaratna, Research Fellow, attended the Regional Symposium on ‘Universalization of Social Security in South Asia’ jointly organized by the South Asia Centre for Policy Studies (SACEPS) and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), in Kathmandu, Nepal during 3-4 October, 2012.
The objective of the symposium was to identify existing practices, problems and prospects for universalizing social security in the national and regional context, and to develop policy recommendations and action plans towards universalization of social security in the South Asian region. The symposium brought together leading representatives from regional and international organizations, governments, academic institutions, civil society organizations and the private sector.
Dr Ganga Tilakaratna presented the national paper for Sri Lanka on Universalization of Social Security.
