Policy Engagement Forum on Trade Research Hosted by IPS

IPS Research Fellow, Janaka Wijayasiri, recently highlighted IPS research on facilitating trade between Sri Lanka and India, including the Economic and Technology Corporation Agreement (ETCA), the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with China, and regional cooperation in South Asia. He also emphasised the importance of looking into private standards and global value chains when it comes to exports.

Dr. Wijayasiri made these observations at the Policy Engagement Forum on Trade Research, hosted by IPS, on 27 March 2018. Representatives from think tanks, academia, the government sector, the private sector, and other interested stakeholders participated at the forum.

The participants also identified gaps in existing research and potential areas for collaboration for better trade policy formulation.
