National Experts Meeting to Prepare the FAO Country Programming Framework (CPF)
27 September 2022
The Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) convened a national experts meeting at the Dr Saman Kelegama Auditorium, IPS to discuss the draft Country Programming Framework (CPF) 2023-2027. The main objective of this meeting was to obtain stakeholder views on the draft CPF 2023-2027, which will feed into the upcoming provincial-level discussions. Representatives of the government, researchers, academia, civil society organisations and the private sector working on the related thematic areas in Sri Lanka participated in the discussion.
During the last few decades, Sri Lanka’s agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry and environment sectors have immensely benefited from financial and technical assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Since the formulation of the CPF 2018-2022, significant changes have taken place in global and national contexts related to agriculture, livestock, fisheries, forestry and the environment. New challenges have emerged and scientific knowledge and new technological innovations on the subject have been introduced. Against this backdrop, the FAO, with the support of the IPS, is drafting the CPF 2023-2027, taking stock of changes in policy, technical and socioeconomic spheres.
