National Cooling Policy of Sri Lanka

The Ministry of Environment has invited the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) to assist the process of formulating the National Cooling Policy of Sri Lanka (NCP). The objectives of formulating the NCP is to: ensure food security and minimise food loss due to insufficient cooling facilities in transit and storage due to its perishable nature; increase the productivity of local agriculture and animal husbandry; ensure the potency of drugs and vaccines during its cold chain; ensure sustainable cooling systems in space cooling; promote energy efficiency and alternative technologies with an integrated systems approach; and develop sustainable and climate friendly cool chains in Sri Lanka.
