Mapping of Institutions that Support SMEs and Startups in Sri Lanka

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive mapping of service providers catering to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and startups in Sri Lanka, with a particular emphasis on those in the innovation sector. Additionally, this study will identify key governmental and non-governmental entities in the country that extend support to innovative SMEs and startups. It will delve into the specifics of the services they offer, including associated costs, eligibility criteria, the extent of their utilisation and the intellectual property (IP) services offered by these organisations, if any.

Moreover, the research aims to identify a representative cohort of innovative SMEs and startups that span the major economic sectors in Sri Lanka. From this group, it will ascertain the nature and scope of their engagement with the IP system, along with the opportunities and challenges they encounter in utilising IP. Lastly, the study will explore the key domains of IP support services available to innovative SMEs and startups in Sri Lanka.
