The research study estimates a living wage for the workers in the tea plantation industry in Sri Lanka in December 2015, using the Anker methodology. The study is done for the estate sector. The methodology estimates the per capita cost of a basic, but decent, quality life style, which includes the cost of a low cost, nutritious diet, cost of basic housing with acceptable quality, cost of providing adequate clothing and foot wear, cost of health and education for the family, cost of other expenses such as transportation, cultural activities, communications, personal care and other unforeseen contingencies.
