
IPS Researchers Speak at the Asia Pacific Workshop on the Global Sustainable Development Report 2019

IPS Research Fellow and Head of Environmental Economic Policy Research, Athula Senaratne, highlighted the importance of introducing technological innovations of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) to advance SDG implementation, while IPS Research Fellow and Head of Agricultural Economic Policy Research, Manoj Thibbotuwawa, discussed the data gaps and institutional complexities that thwart moving forward with SDG implementation.
They made these remarks at the workshop on ‘The Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR)-Implications for Accelerating Sustainable Development in Asia Pacific’, held on 19 – 21 November 2019, at Hotel Pullman, Jakarta, Indonesia.
The forum was organised jointly by the Ministry of National Development Planning of Indonesia (BAPPENAS), Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and UN-DESA.
The purpose of the workshop was to explore the ways to translate the findings from the GSDR into guidance for policy makers and other stakeholders at the country level.
