IPS Executive Director, Dushni Weerakoon, recently observed that Sri Lanka’s sensitivity to a rise in the cost of debt was high and the risks on currency turmoil have heightened with the current political standoff. She warned that foreign investor scrutiny on economic and political risks will be more intense and domestic political-economic conditions will also be reflected in changes to fiscal policy.

She was speaking at an Evening Seminar on the ‘Currency Outlook and Forecast’, organised by the Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka & Finance PLC, on 01 November 2018, at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute, Colombo 07. Dr. Weerakoon delivered the Keynote Speech and participated at a panel discussion at the event.
