IPS Executive Director, Dushni Weerakoon, delivered a paper on ‘Sri Lanka: Post-war Economic Development in a Changing Global Landscape’ at the 12th ISAS International Conference on South Asia under the theme ‘Emerging South Asia: Politics, Economy and International Relations’ organized by the Institute of South Asian Studies (ISAS) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore on 06 April 2018.

The presentation focused on trajectory of Sri Lanka’s rapid post-war economic transition amidst the challenges of a growing debt overhang and implications for navigating rising regional geopolitical rivalries for small middle income countries. She argued that Sri Lanka’s immediate post-war public investment drive in infrastructure, and a patchy regulatory reform effort thereafter, have failed to deliver a sustained growth outcome for the country as yet.
