IPS Executive Director Comments on Sri Lanka’s Current Economic Outlook

IPS Executive Director, Dushni Weerakoon, recently warned that risks to the Sri Lankan economy in the coming years were going to be more challenging. She also noted that the current currency crisis experienced by the country was especially concerning due to the volume of outstanding external debts that has to be paid.

Dr. Weerakoon made these remarks at the monthly meeting of the Sunday Times Business Club (STBC) on 17 October 2018 at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.

The other panelists included, State Minister of Finance, Eran Wickramaratne, veteran economist, Nimal Sanderatne, and Ceylon Chamber Chief Economist, Shiran Fernando.
