IPS Research Fellow, Ganga Tilakaratna, recently highlighted the importance of South Asian regional cooperation, in Sri Lanka’s achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  She argued that regional cooperation could help Sri Lanka accomplish several SDGs and targets, particularly in the areas of energy (SDG7), climate action (SDG 13), marine resources (SDG 14), food security and sustainable agriculture (SDG 2), and innovation, science and technology (SDG 9).

Dr. Tilakaratna made these remarks during the Sri Lanka country presentation at the brainstorming session on ‘Interpreting SDGs for South Asia: In Search of a Regional Framework’, organised by the UNESCAP, South and South-West Asia Office, held in Bangkok on 28 March 2019.
