IPS Executive Director, Dr. Saman Kelegama addressing the First SANEM Annual Economists’ Conference 2016 held in Bangladesh emphasized that implementing the unfinished agendas of the existing programmes like SAFTA and SATIS and activating the much discussed SAARC Investment Agreement will contribute to deeper economic integration of the region.
The South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) organized its first Annual Economists’ Conference under the theme “Bangladesh: Way towards a Middle Income Country”. The conference, held on 20th February 2016, focused on four distinct themes including “Economic Growth”, “Poverty and Human Development”, “Sectoral Economy” and “Trade and Regional Integration”.
