The volume of essays offer comprehensive accounts of the actually existing market economy of Sri Lanka, complete with disaggregated analyses of key economic and social problems faced by the country during recent decades.
The chapters examine many aspects, ranging across a broad spectrum of issues: public finance and money, fiscal policy and taxation, and the impact of the market economy on different sectors and parts of society, to regional disparities and income distribution.
