Dr Manoj Thibbotuwawa Discusses Food Insecurity in Sri Lanka

Participating in ‘The People’s Platform’ programme telecast over NewsFirst – TV1, IPS Research Fellow Dr Manoj Thibbotuwawa spoke on the internal and external factors that could lead to a food crisis in Sri Lanka. He emphasised the immediate need to secure humanitarian aid and channel them to the poor and vulnerable population groups through targeted food ration schemes covering essentials and nutritional assistance programmes. Dr Thibbotuwawa also spoke on the importance of rectifying the inefficiencies in the current food systems governance, as well as the need to promote digitisation of supply chains to minimise wastage.
