A blog written by Dr. Bilesha Weeraratne, Research Fellow and Head of Migration and Urbanisation Research at IPS on ‘How Sri Lankan remittances are defying COVID-19’ is featured in East Asia Forum’s blogsite. In her blog, Dr. Weeraratne notes that although remittances to Sri Lanka for 2020 were projected to decline below the USD 6.7 billion received in 2019, the monthly remittances data up to November indicates that Sri Lanka is unlikely to suffer a drastic decline as projected, and the overall figure for 2020 will likely be an increase from 2019.
