The inaugural Doing Good Index (DGI) examines the enabling environment for philanthropy and private social investment across 15 Asian economies. Composed of four areas–tax and fiscal policy, regulatory regimes, socio-cultural ecosystem, and government procurement–the Index reveals how Asian economies are catalysing philanthropic giving. The DGI 2022, the third edition of the study, focuses mainly on the impact of COVID-19 on the social sector and the role of charitable organisations in responding to the challenges posed by the pandemic. The Doing Good Index serves as a unique and useful body of data for Asian governments, as well as for nonprofits, foundations and charities in Asia, to learn from each other at a time when policies related to the sector are constantly evolving. The DGI is published by the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS).
