Dissemination Workshop on ‘A Baseline Assessment of OXFAM- EU-ACAP Programme’

A Workshop to disseminate findings conducted by a team of researchers at IPS, for the study on ‘Baseline Assessment of the OXFAM EU-ACAP (European Union Assistance for Conflict Affected People) was conducted at the Conference Room, IPS, on 10th June, 2011.

This study collected data from almost 2000 households from Northern and Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka and covered several themes such as socio economic characteristics, livelihood activities (mainly Paddy, Market Gardening and Dairy Production), community infrastructure and other social issues (related to gender and protection) of post-conflict communities. The study also suggests some recommendations for further improvement of the programme.

A number of participants from different NGOs working in Northern and Eastern Province participated in this workshop. Socio Economic Development Organization Trincomalee (SEDOT) and Sarvodaya from Trincomalee, Eastern Self-Reliant Community Awakening Organization (ESCO) and Sarvodaya from Batticaloa, Social Welfare Organization for Ampara (SWOAD) and Sarvodaya from Ampara district, Federation of Social Development Organizations (FOSDOO) and National Gender and Community Development Organization (N-GECDO) Vavuniya district and local NGOs participated in this workshop. Apart from these participants, Oxfam staff from Colombo Head Office and branches in Northern and Eastern provinces also participated in the dissemination workshop.
