Discussion on Deepening Trade and Investment Relations between Malaysia and Sri Lanka

A team headed by the Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industries, Dato Mustapa Mohomed visited the IPS, on 6th May 2016 to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries. The Minister met the IPS Executive Director, Dr. Saman Kelegama and discussed ways and means of deepening trade and investment relations between Malaysia and Sri Lanka. The Minister said that Malaysia is keen to partner Sri Lanka in its development process. He said that a bilateral Free Trade Agreement between Sri Lanka and Malaysia will be a good starting point to deepen the economic relations between the two countries.

The Ministers team will be in close contact with the IPS on negotiating the FTA.
