Digitalisation is driving a paradigm shift in the economic systems, and it is a prerequisite for countries to benefit from other engines of growth. Digital transformation of public services fundamentally changes the organisation and operation of public institutions towards a customer-centric institutional ecosystem. It involves simplification of service delivery and follows a holistic approach. Digital transformation improves efficiency, citizen involvement, and government accountability in public service delivery.
This study will thereby explore the relationship between public service digitalisation and economic development in Sri Lanka. The project will identify key challenges and opportunities in public service digitalisation, empirically assess the impact of public service digitalisation on economic growth in Sri Lanka, and recommend policy measures that can enhance digital governance to support sustainable economic development.
