Commonwealth Youth Forum, International Convention Centre
IPS Executive Director made a presentation on “Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Young People in Sri Lanka” at the Commonwealth Youth Forum 2013 held at the International Convention Centre at Hambantota on 10th November 2013.
The presentation was made in the very first session of the Forum on “Youth in the Post 2015 Development Agenda” chaired by Katherine Ellis, Director Youth Affairs, Commonwealth Secretariat. The other speakers at the session were Ravi Karkara, Adviser to World Youth Forum 2014, United Nations Millennium Campaign; Lloyd Russel Movie, Vice President, European Youth Forum; and Esther Eshiet, Youth Representative to the High Level Panel on Post 2015.
Executive Director’s presentation was based on the report “Youth and Development: Realizing the MDGs for Sri Lankan Youth” prepared for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development by the IPS. The IPS team that produced the report consisted of Nisha Arunatilake, Chatura Rodrigo, Priyanka Jayawardane, Sunimalee Madurawala, and Mufaris Mohamed. There was a lively discussion following the presentations at the session.
