Thematic Area: Agricultural Economic Policy
Climate change is an enormous challenge to agricultural production worldwide and poses a particular threat to marginalised communities, who often face heightened vulnerabilities and have limited resources to adapt. To secure a sustainable future for these communities and the world at large, global efforts are crucial.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has outlined key targets for 2050 to address these challenges through strategic actions and recommendations. To this end, Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), a farming approach that adapts and mitigates the climate change impacts, has been identified as a strategic priority.
Focusing on two countries in the Asia-Pacific region—Sri Lanka and China—this project explores the effects of climate change on agriculture in general and how CSA investments can address these challenges with a special focus on marginalised, vulnerable communities.
