Book on ‘Money, Inflation, and Output’ Launched at the IPS Auditorium
The Sinhala and Tamil translations of the book titled ‘Money, Inflation and Output’ by Dr. H N Thenuwara was launched at the IPS premises. The book explains the foundations of money, inflation and output in a country, their inter-relations, and how they are affected by the monetary authority and exchange rate and monetary policy regimes. The underlying theme of the book is the need for the Central Bank to conduct independent monetary policy and thereby keep inflation low, which is essential to achieve higher economic growth.
Delivering the welcome speech, IPS Executive Director, Dr. Saman Kelegama stressed the importance and the need for more economic literature in Sinhala and Tamil, in order to enrich the debate on economic issues in Sri Lanka. Deputy Minister of Policy Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Harsha De Silva was the Chief Guest at the event. Dr. P N Weerasinghe Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL); W A Wijewardena, former Deputy Governor, CBSL; Senior Economist of CBSL, B Sivatheeban; and L Y Dharmasena of the CBSL were among the invitees.
Dr. H N Thenuwara has nearly three decades of experience at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
