Bilesha Weeraratne Presents Paper on Migration at Oxford University

IPS Research Fellow and Head of Migration and Urbanization research, Bilesha Weeraratne, presented a paper titled ‘Right to Mobility: Are Immigrants at the Mercy of Recruitment Intermediaries’, at the International Conference of Migrating World: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Migration and Integration.
The conference was held on 22 February 2020, at St. Anne’s College, Oxford University and was organised by the London Center for Interdisciplinary Research.
Dr. Weeraratne highlighted the importance of educating potential migrant workers about sub agents’ informal status and streamlining the processes of passport collection, fee collection and wage negotiations between potential migrants and sub agents.
