IPS Research Fellow, Bilesha Weeraratne, made a presentation on the Impact Evaluation of MathCloud in Sri Lanka, at the South Asia Regional Symposium on ICT for Education, jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok).

The symposium was held at Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo on 27 – 28 February 2018, and was attended by government officials, private sector, researchers, development partners and civil society from across South Asia.

Dr. Weeraratne’s presentation showed the positive impact of a pilot project that introduced a well-established adaptive e-earning mathematics system called MathCloud to a sample of eighth grade students in Sri Lanka in 2014. The project was technically assisted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka and the National Institute of Education. Dr. Weeraratne served as the Impact Evaluation Specialist for the project.
