25 April 2020
Colombo
IPS Research Fellow and Head of Migration and Urbanisation research, Bilesha Weeraratne, was a panellist at the PWC webinar on post-COVID19 economic outlook and recovery strategies, on 25 April 2020.
She noted that all three main means of foreign exchange to Sri Lanka – migrant remittances, the apparel industry, and tourism – have been hard-hit due to the current crisis. This means that recovery of Sri Lanka’s economy depends on global economic recovery and can take a long time.
