In a recent Reuters’ article, IPS Research Fellow, Bilesha Weeraratne, highlighted how weather patterns and climate risks influence migration of Sri Lankan workers, especially those depending on the agriculture sector.
She also noted, currently, very little of the remittances from migrant workers are invested in improving job possibilities in rural areas or making farming more productive.
