BCIM Regional Interconnection Conference

Dr. Janaka Wijayasiri, Research Fellow and Nipuni Perera, Research Assistant of IPS participated in the “One Belt, One Road” (OBOR) and Bangladesh, China, India, Myanmar (BCIM) Regional Interconnection Conference organized by the Institute of World Economics and Politics/Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), in Beijing, China on 25 August 2015. Participants from think-tanks/institutes in Bangladesh, China, India, Myanmar, Pakistan and Sri Lanka attended the conference. The objective of the conference was to discuss trade, investment, economic cooperation amongst countries in the region under the OBOR and BCIM initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Janaka Wijayasiri touched on ‘Potential and Challenges to Trade Expansion Under Sri Lanka-China FTA in the Context of One Belt, One Road Initiative’ while Nipuni Perera made a presentation on ‘Opportunities and Challenges along the Belt and Road with a Specific Focus on Sri Lanka’.
