Advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is facing its worst socio-economic crisis in decades. The COVID-19 pandemic, the rising global commodity prices, the fluid political situation, and the severe balance of payment crisis have together posed significant uncertainty for the country’s economic outlook. Despite ongoing reforms and engagement with international partners, including multilateral lenders, the challenges remain immense.

These challenges threaten to derail the country's progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At this critical juncture, it is essential to assess the impact of these crises on
Sri Lanka’s SDG progress and to identify the necessary course corrections.
