The 6th South Asia Economic Summit
The 6th South Asia Economic Summit (SAES), organized by the IPS took place during 2nd – 4th September at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, 2013. The three day summit was inaugurated by Hon. D.E.W. Gunasekera,, Senior Minister for Human Resources, Chief Guest at the occasion and the key-note address was delivered by Hon. Ashan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning in Pakistan. The Summit also featured, SAARC Secretary General Ahmed Saleem and many distinguished personalities. The Welcome address was made by Dr. Saman Kelegama,, Executive Director, IPS.
This year’s theme for the Summit was ‘Towards a Stronger, Dynamic, and Inclusive South Asia’. The Summit consisted of 4 plenary sessions, 14 parallel sessions, 3 special events, two guests speakers. There were also two official partner events where lecturers were delivered by the Summit Speakers at the Lakshman Kadiragarmar Institute and the University of Colombo.
