Much needed tax reforms were introduced, with the Sri Lankan parliament passing the new Inland Revenue Act, effective from 1 April 2018. How will this new tax regime affect the tax revenue and what will be the tax burden to on the people? Is it actually more pro-poor or is it another way for the rich to get richer?
