Tilani Jayawardhana

Tilani Jayawardhana is currently a Research Economist at the IPS. Since joining in 2000, her areas of research interests and publications have been primarily related to international economics, regional integration, international migration and development issues, and macroeconomic policy. During the period 2004 to 2006 she was on secondment to the Ministry of Finance and Planning as a Senior Economist. During her tenure at the Ministry, she was involved extensively in public finance and national budgetary activities, gaining broad experience in national budget formulation and fiscal policy related work. She received training on ‘Financial Programming and Policies’ conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 2006, and training on ‘Econometric Applications’ conducted by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in 2001.

Tilani Jayawardhana has also worked as a National Consultant to the International Trade Centre (ITC)/UNCTAD/WTO, Geneva on trade in services work. Presently she is a Member of the Subcommittee on National Policy on Ports and Shipping for the Ministry of Ports and Aviation and a Member of the Working Group of National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) on Policy Advocacy Working Group (WGPA) for the development of the Small and Medium Scale enterprises sector in Sri Lanka.

Tilani Jayawardhana is a PhD Candidate at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and holds a MA in Economics from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and a BA in Economics with First Class Honours from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka.
