Parakrama Samaratunga
Parakrama Samaratunga is currently a Research Fellow and Head of Agricultural Economic Policy research at the IPS. Prior to joining the IPS in 2003, he served in the Department of Agriculture of Sri Lanka, first as an Agricultural Economist and later as the Director, Socio-Economics and Planning. He has also been a Visiting Lecturer in several universities in Sri Lanka and currently serves in the teaching panel of the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA) at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. During his career, he has served in many national level committees on agricultural development and policy and served numerous private and non-governmental organizations as a consultant. His research interests are in agricultural, natural resource and environmental economics.
