Deshal de Mel

Deshal de Mel joined IPS in 2004 and is at present a Research Economist at the Institute. His areas of research have largely focused on international trade, bilateral and regional trade agreements, trade in services, foreign aid and political economy. He has also been a member of trade delegations representing Sri Lanka at technical level negotiations of the Trade in Services Agreement and Economic Cooperation Agreement of the Indo-Lanka Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. Deshal de Mel graduated from the University of Oxford in 2004 where he read Philosophy, Politics and Economics and later obtained his Masters in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics in 2006.
