Vacancy for an Assistant Librarian

Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) is seeking a suitable applicant for the position of Assistant Librarian.

In keeping with the vision and mission of the IPS, the Library which is fully equipped with all modern facilities caters to the information needs of its highly demanding research staff, by offering ICT based products and services. This will be an ideal opportunity for a person to excel her/his career in the field of Library and Information Management.



Qualifications required:


• A degree (preferably with economics but not essential)
• Library and Information Management qualification from a university or a recognized institution
• Good spoken English
• Good computing knowledge i.e. data processing, web 2.0
• Ability to cooperate and work in a team
• Prior experience will be an advantage


Vacancy for a Library Assistant

Qualifications required:

• Library Science qualification from a University or a recognized institution
• Good spoken English
• Good computing knowledge i.e. data processing, Library Management Software, Internet, Graphic/web designing

Working hours would be 8.30 am to 4.30pm on weekdays.
Salary – negotiable, depending on the qualifications and experience.

IPS Internship Programme

The IPS internship programme offers short-term attachments to currently enrolled students or recent graduates in economics or closely related fields. They provide an opportunity to work with a senior researcher on a specific research project, or to obtain a wider experience across research areas. The positions are open to applicants with an interest in development issues, and are typically for 2-6 months.
