Rationale

In recent years approaches of crisis and conflict prevention have rapidly gained currency in Sri Lanka. To ensure sustainable development, and to avoid the economic and social costs of violent conflicts it is important to be sensitive to the peace and conflict impacts of development interventions, and, where possible, contribute towards conflict prevention and peace building.

Objectives

This study aims to develop a methodology to assess peace and conflict impacts of development projects, and will use the methodology to assess the peace and conflict impacts of a development initiative aimed at providing employment oriented vocational training to women and youth in the central region.
