Colombo, Sri Lanka

IPS Research Fellow, Janaka Wijayasiri, delivered the keynote presentation at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) discussion ‘Get Real Insights in to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and What It Means for Sri Lanka’, which was held at the Postgraduate Institute of Management Auditorium, on 07 February 2019.

Dr. Wijayasiri highlighted that Sri Lanka needs to address risks associated with the BRI in order to ensure it is of mutual benefit to Sri Lanka and China. He warned that the power rivalry between India and China is a major concern of the BRI and its beneficiary countries. While Sri Lanka tries to maintain relations with India and Japan, it has to be mindful of China whose rivals are Japan and India, he added.
